Publishing a Newsletter . . .

Learn how publishing a newsletter will help you promote your business effectively.

In the Beginning

When you’re just starting out, it’s best to wait until you have 1000 or more subscribers to your ezine – before you begin actively recruiting for paid advertisers. The standard rate for ads is $1.00 to $5.00 per 1000 subscribers.

Until you build up your subscribers, you can start getting advertisers today, even with only a small number of members, plus – depending on the subject matter of your newsletter, actually start to build a growing monthly income automatically. Instead of chasing down advertisers, use affiliate programs.

You see, some people who sell the very things the readers of your newsletter would be interested in buying – have already automated the entire transaction process. That means, if you recommend their product, you automatically receive commissions when the readers of your newsletter go to the vendors’ website to buy.

Choose affiliates that mesh with your website content. You should include a small blurb at the end of your newsletter so potential advertisers will know how to contact you. When starting out – you can offer to “trade” advertising. You feature a business in your ezine and they feature you in theirs. Just make sure their circulation is to a target market similar to yours. If you sell candles and they sell auto parts – you probably won’t want to swap advertising with them.

Resources for Swapping Ads

EzineSwap.com
A site to locate others that also want to trade ads.

Netterweb.com
Where you will find a list of ezines to swap ads with, plus you can list yours for new subscribers to sign up.

BusinessStructure.com
A listing of those wishing to swap ezine ads.

Tips for Newsletter Anatomy

Keep text to about 55 characters per line. No more than 62. That’s because almost all email readers will display it nicely if you keep it that small.

Design your newsletter to target your website viewers. Make yours special. If people can get the same information you offer, from 80 different ezines – why should they subscribe to yours?

For those of you who will be publishing your newsletter in text format, there is a great site that allows you to type in some stock info about your newsletter. You then receive the formatted newsletter in your email and can copy and paste to send.

There are two topic areas to select from and then an article is automatically inserted. You will probably want to cut and paste your own article. The advantage to this seems to be you won’t need to spend any time in formatting the publication. It’s actually pretty slick. Here is the link
