Affiliate
programs, commonly known as referral programs,
offer a relatively simple way to add content to your
site while generating a passive income for you.
.
The
Scoop
Affiliate
programs are offered by sites which sell goods or
services online. These programs either pay you a
percentage of the revenue of a sale or a fixed amount
- known as a click-through, for each visitor that
clicks through the link on your site to the parent
website.
Affiliate programs vary widely in terms of
quality, reliability of the company offering the
program, commission rate, amount of help the parent
site offers affiliates in setting up their sites,
frequency of statistics showing earnings to date.
Before you sign up with an affiliate program, take a
good look at the product or service you'll be
endorsing. Don't promote any affiliate, if you don't
believe in the product or service. Your visitors will
judge you and your site, by what you refer them to.
Make sure it's good enough to let your viewers know
about it.
If you don't believe in it - don't endorse it.
Period. If you wouldn't dream of buying it under any
circumstances, why would you expect your visitors to
buy it? If your site's visitors feel that you're
recommending a particular product or supplier because
you genuinely believe it's good, you are that much
more likely to be successful with your affiliate
programs.
